100+Women Who Care: Dec. 13 Members Meeting & Open House
100+Women Who Care will host a public open house at its regular quarterly meeting on Wednesday, December 13 from 6:30-7:30p.m. (sharp) at the Museum of Art & History, Garden Room, located at 705 Front Street, Santa Cruz.
100+Women Who Care is a Santa Cruz County community giving circle, open to members of all genders and ages. The group meets every March, June, September and December for one hour to select three worthy nonprofits at each meeting that will be considered to be the single recipient of a grant.
The 100+Women Who Care grant is based on the total amount raised through a donation of $100 from each member of the giving circle. The members vote from among the three selected nonprofits, with the top vote-getter receiving 100% of the donations raised from the group.
Local nonprofits are encouraged to join the quarterly meeting and toss their name in a hat with the chance of being chosen as one of the three finalists. Each finalist is given an opportunity to make a presentation. The giving circle members vote at the end of each meeting for the winning nonprofit.
Combining each 100+Women Who Care member’s $100 donation dramatically amplifies community impact beyond what a single individual can do. For example, the giving circle could raise more than $10,000 in one hour for important local programs. Programs that have benefitted from grants include Salud y Carino, BirchBark, CASA, and El Sistema.
Since 2009, the Santa Cruz 100+ Women Who Care giving circle has donated more than $306,000 to provide for those in greatest need in Santa Cruz County.
Key Benefits of Membership:
-100% of your donations go directly to local nonprofits
-Make a meaningful impact by leveraging your $100 donation to become a part of a larger amount of money making meaningful impacts
-Meet other women philanthropists in Santa Cruz
-Learn about local nonprofits, volunteer opportunities and board openings.
If your nonprofit would like to be considered for funding, the organization must have 501(c)3 status and attend the meeting to put a name in the hat and come prepared to speak about the organization.
