Antonina is a Santa Cruz-based singer-songwriter and choral singer who creates a delicious eclectic musical stew! She adds spice to a rich roux of folk, women’s vocal harmonies and world music. With a pinch of a cappella and a dash of blues and jazz, Antonina cooks up a savory feast of truly unique music.
This concert celebrates the release of her second album, Heart of All That Matters. A rhythm guitarist, she’ll be accompanied by Michael Levy on piano, Ray Shaffer on bass, Steve Vahle on drums and percussion, plus other special guests.
Heart of All That Matters was inspired by the poetry of Antonina’s friend and Bonny Doon resident Suzanne Morrow. Antonina has set eight of Suzanne’s poems to music, all of which appear on the album. Except for a melody by Lila Downs to which Antonina put her own lyrics, the remaining songs are all Antonina’s original music.
