Come join this family friendly collagraph printmaking activity that mixes collage, texture, drawing, and printing your own design! Young artists and their parents will create two 4×6″ relief plates using foam in the cut out in shape of their own unique designs. All skill levels welcome, and you will be impressed with your results! Each adult ticket includes one child (under 12) and additional tickets for children under 12 are available for $15 each. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Must register in advance online.

cost: $45

In this workshop, we will:

  • learn how to make a relief plate to print from using collagraph technique
  • use basic craft supplies like foam, glue, ink and paper to instantly make your own relief print
  • cut and assemble foam and adhere it to a sturdy mat board
  • play with textures and manipulate shapes to create an interesting composition
  • learn to mix and roll ink onto your relief plates
  • create a set of prints

The following supplies are included:

  • 2 firm mat boards size 5×7″
  • smooth and textured foam squares
  • craft glue
  • scissors and other dull tools for making textural marks
  • water soluble printmaking ink in multiple colors
  • brayers to roll out ink
  • 5 sheets of Strathmore lightweight printmaking paper

You can bring:

  • an image for inspiration, but it’s not necessary. The activity is loose and the prints are more an interplay of texture and form.
  • the desire to get creative and have fun using your hands!

You will go home with:

  • 5 (8×10″) prints from up to 2 collagraph plates made by you!
  • memories of learning and making something with your child

After printing you can take home your dried prints but the foam plates aren’t intended to be washed and re-used. All inks are water soluble and can be washed off easily with soap and water, but if you prefer your child to wear a smock or apron, feel free to bring one.
