The FREE Downtown Santa Cruz Community Drumming Festival is back again! Acclaimed percussionist Jim Greiner and event co-sponsor The Starving Musician.welcome all levels of experience (including none at all!) and all ages to this popular event, which will be held in the parking lot at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Elm Street.
The festival includes a benefit raffle for Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services. Jim will raffle off a full-size Afro-Cuban Conga Drum - with a stand! - donated by LP Music of Oxnard, California. Raffle tickets are available at the event for $5 each, and $20 for five tickets.
Jim will guide the participants on a step-by-step rhythm journey by introducing fun and easy fundamentals. He'll then demonstrate how to build simple, interlocking patterns, while integrating his fundamental community-building principles of Communicating, Collaborating & Celebrating.
Bring your favorite percussion instrument, and Jim will provide some as well!
