ANNA SOFIA AMEZCUA
Anna Sofia Amezcua's abstract paintings and murals use color and physicality to express visceral emotion and felt experience. Her process is intuitive, expressive, and gestural, and informed by her background in movement and dance as well as an acute sensitivity to color. Through powerful and intimate expression, she delves beneath the surface to encourage and validate deep emotionality and the strength in vulnerability. She has a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, in Bronxville, New York, where she studied painting, dance and literature. She also attended Oxford University, Oxford, England, and studied Movement Based Expressive Arts at the Tamalpa Institute in Marin County, California. Anna Sofia exhibits her works both nationally and internationally and is included in various private collections. She brings her life-long study of body-centered practices to her Embodied Abstract Painting Workshops, in which she facilitates deeper connection to authentic creativity through movement-inspired painting. She lives and works in Eureka, California.
