A string-centric power trio that brings together three of the most versatile and adventurous musicians in the Bay Area, Proteus Trio doesn’t so much ignore genre conventions as embrace every musical practice. Violinist Evan Price earned two Grammy Awards during his decade-long run with Turtle Island Quartet and continues his two-decade-plus tenure in the pioneering Hot Club of San Francisco. Peabody Institute-trained cellist Lewis Patzner is best known as a prolific studio musician sought out by rock and pop acts, and for leading his instrumental metal band Judgment Day. And pianist Jonathan Alford has earned a sterling reputation as an accompanist for some of the region’s finest jazz vocalists and Latin bands.
