Davina and the Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows, level-A musicianship, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Davina Sowers’ commanding stage presence. With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, the band is converting audiences one show at a time, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe. Since 1998, the Western swing/gypsy jazz trio Hot Club of Cowtown has traveled the world bringing their own brand of magical musical chemistry to audiences far and wide. The marriage of gypsy jazz inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt accounts for the “Hot Club” portion of their name, while the hoedowns, traditional tunes, and Western swing-inspired music of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys are represented in the “Cowtown” portion of their name. They have created a legacy of the preservation of musical traditions that have often been overlooked by the mainstream and alternative music worlds. Together in The Finest Hour concert presentation, both groups celebrate the iconic music of the WWII era.
