For six decades, Santa Cruz Junior Guards has been integral to growing up on our coast—building confidence, teaching ocean safety, and creating traditions passed from one generation to the next.
Join us at the MAH to hear how it all began, how the program grew along the Santa Cruz County coast, and how it's shaped generations of beach life.
Hear firsthand accounts from Jack Dufour about those early years, along with stories from past and present Junior Guard leaders and lifeguards. Their stories span the decades and will include a special short film. Were you a Junior Guard? Did you raise one, teach one, or simply love Santa Cruz and its beach history? Be part of the celebration and share your stories with us!
Six decades. Generations of kids. Countless summers. One extraordinary Santa Cruz tradition.
