When you think of people doing yoga, images come to mind of people breathing deeply, seeking inner calm, the rest of the world be damned. So, it may come as a surprise that yoga schools across our hippie Santa Cruz County have decided to take a warrior pose stand for the sake of the over 2,700 kids in detention for over half a year in Tornillo, TX.
With Migrant Children and their Parents detained under conditions of such inhumanity as to raise comparisons to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, eight yoga schools located around Santa Cruz County are rallying to raise funds and take action.
Valerie Moselle and Leanna Immel of Luma Yoga in collaboration with Steven Macramalla of Six Animals Kung-fu, and Yoga For All Movement, have organized a county-wide Yoga Day of Action on Saturday, July 27th in which studios county-wide will conduct classes with 100% of donations going towards RAICES, National Bail Fund Network, and Room for Refugees in efforts to address the crisis for detainees at our southern border.
Interested in a good workout to help a cause? Check out one of the participating yoga schools:

All studios will be putting out a donation collection box, and/or enabling online donations with proceeds evenly divided among the three organizations. In addition, certain studios, including Luma, will be donating a portion of that day’s sales revenue.
