Bridging The Gap - Friday April 24 - 2:00pm-5:00pm

Bridging The Gap - River Beautification Event

Friday April 24, 2020 2:00pm-5:00pm

Here we are! Our 3rd community clean-up/beautification event!

With Yoso Wellness Spa, Coastal Watershed Council & Save our Shores, we at Hotel Paradox kicked off our Bridging the Gap series on April 26, 2019,

  • We (approximately 70 volunteers) pulled exotic grasses and mulched around beneficial native plants across more than 2100 square feet at the Chinatown Pedestrian Bridge parklet. Native plants in this riverside park now have the space they need to grow and thrive.
  • We removed over 500 pounds of garbage and 5 pounds of recycling from the San Lorenzo River. Removing this material improves river habitat, reduces pollution and beautifies our Riverwalk.
  • We built new and strengthened existing community connections!

Our 2nd go at it was on Oct 25, 2019 during record breaking heat waves!

  • We removed approximately 71.5 pounds of debris from the riverbank
    • Due to syringes being included with the trash, Emily [Save Our Shores] was unable to gather accurate data.
      • Please, please, please heed SOS’s safety rules during clean-ups!
  • We improved 3,700 square feet of riverbank habitat by weeding and providing water to new native plant seedlings

Which brings us to our next river beautification event! April  24 – FRIDAY

  • 2pm : Meet to complete registration at Yoso Wellness Spa
    • Divide & conquer! Details provided at meeting place.
    • This is a waste-free event. Please bring buckets and gloves as well as reusable water bottles!
  • 4pm : Weigh trash & recycling at Hotel Paradox.
    • Happy Hour in Solaire Restaurant for a job well done!
    • Raffle prizes for participants!

Please post & share our flyer wonderfully created & supported by Hive Design and email to all your connections as well!

The greatness of our community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members!

See you at the river!
