The Cabrillo Festival orchestra brings to life new works exploring historical and personal journeys. "The Golden Spike" by Daniel Kellogg marks the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. "unbound: Phase 1" by rising composer Nathaniel Heyder reflects on a period of artistic and personal freedom. Lembit Beecher's "Tell Me Again" uses cello to portray a story of immigration, composed for the virtuosic cellist Karen Ouzounian. "Casting the Dice", a powerful Festival commission by Iván Enrique Rodríguez explores the experiences of displaced people and human movement.
