In the front gallery, we are hosting a solo exhibition of gifted Santa Cruz artist Rose Sellery called, "InsideHer". Rose is inspired by the spoken word. She reinterprets collected slang, derogatory words and worn, thoughtlessly sanctioned expressions to create pieces that explore the fragility of family dynamics, gender roles, social issues and the intricacies of our lives.
Rose writes, "Language is the vehicle that takes me on a journey of realizing a piece or body of work, while humor and heartache are often the engine running the machine. If the viewer is moved to laughter, tears or a moment of reflection, then I have reached my destination".
The exhibition is presented alongside paintings, sculpture and mixed media works from 30+ other local and regional artists who are part of our gallery roster in our light filled, 4,600 sq. ft. space. Curated by the Sea opens at noon and the First Friday artist reception will take place between 6-8 pm with live music from jazz musicians, Los Improviders!
